Police Iimpound 25 vehicles in Cross River over number plate violations

The Cross River State Police Command has impounded 25 vehicles for violating registration regulations as it intensified enforcement of the Inspector-General of Police’s nationwide directive against improper vehicle number plates.
The operation, carried out across Calabar on July 3, targeted vehicles operating without registration plates, as well as those with covered, altered, defaced or unauthorised dealer number plates. Police said all offenders have been processed and are facing prosecution in accordance with the law.

Police spokesperson, SP Sunday Eitokpah, said the exercise is aimed at improving public safety by preventing criminals from using unregistered or concealed vehicles to evade detection. He added that the command remains committed to intelligence-led policing and warned that the enforcement campaign would continue across the state.
The police also urged motorists to comply with vehicle registration laws and encouraged residents to report suspicious persons or activities through the command’s emergency lines
