Police rescue Adelabu’s sister, twin sons as two suspected kidnappers killed in gun battle (Videos)
The Nigeria Police Force has successfully rescued Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, following a coordinated rescue operation carried out on Saturday.
The victims were freed alive after security operatives tracked down their abductors and engaged them in a fierce gun battle. During the operation, two suspected members of the kidnapping gang were neutralised, while two firearms were recovered from the criminals.
Mrs. John-Paul and her sons were kidnapped on June 3, 2026, at about 7:30 a.m. while she was reportedly taking the children to school. The incident sparked widespread concern among residents and heightened fears over the growing threat of kidnapping in parts of the country.
According to security sources, the successful rescue was made possible through sustained intelligence gathering, strategic surveillance and relentless tactical pressure mounted on the kidnappers by police operatives.

The pressure reportedly forced the gang to abandon attempts to move the victims and eventually confront security personnel, leading to an exchange of gunfire that ended with the safe recovery of the hostages.
Police sources disclosed that the victims were rescued unharmed despite spending several days in captivity. The operation also dealt a significant blow to the criminal network responsible for the abduction.
Meanwhile, security agencies have intensified efforts to apprehend other members of the syndicate who escaped during the confrontation. Investigators believe some of the fleeing suspects may have sustained gunshot injuries while attempting to evade arrest.
Search and combing operations are ongoing in nearby forests and surrounding communities, with security personnel working to dismantle the entire kidnapping network and recover any additional weapons in the group’s possession.
The rescue has been hailed as a major breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping, underscoring the importance of intelligence-led policing and inter-agency cooperation in tackling violent crimes across the country.
Authorities have assured the public that investigations are continuing and that all those connected to the abduction will be brought to justice.
