Relief for Manchester United fans, Bruno Fernandes could return for clash against Tottenham
Erik ten Hag seemed to have calmed the fear of the Red Devils fans who were left worried over Bruno Fernandes’ injury. According to the United boss, a late call will be made on Fernandes’ fitness ahead of his side’s clash against Tottenham.
The 28-year-old was substituted during Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final win against Brighton after damaging his ankle.
National Daily gathered that the Portuguese who removed his boot during extra-time on the sidelines was pictured wearing a protective boot on Monday at his home.
The midfielder hasn’t missed a single game through injury since joining United more than three years ago but there had been reports that he could miss Thursday’s game in north London.
However, ten Hag says the boot was simply a protective measure and the club will assess Fernandes over the next 24 hours.
‘There are some unavailable – Martinez, Varane,’ said Ten Hag.
‘We have to see how Bruno Fernandes is, we don’t know yet. Is a question mark. But I think for the rest, we are quite okay.
‘It’s more often that players, we protect them, prevention but it [Fernandes injury] has to settle down.
‘We have seen he played a full game and it happened in thefirst half. But tomorrow is quick, we have to see what is possible.’
