Revolution Now defy police threat, holds protest in Lagos
A civil society group, Revolution Now, orchestrating “Take It Back” advocacy, on Monday, defied police threat to forestall mass action in the country, embarked on protest in Lagos.
The group commenced the protest, monitored by National Daily Newspaper in Lagos, from Ikeja Bridge, in the state capital, and went through Awolowo Road, down to Alusa, chanting solidarity songs and expressing their demands on the things the protesters want the government to do.
Some of the demands include the revisiting of the state of emergency proclaimed in River State by President Bola Tinubu, as well as the suspension of the governor and members of the state house of assembly; also, the review of the cybercrime act, and the hardship in the country.
Despite initial attempts by the police to forestall the protest, operatives of the Lagos State Police Command provided security, guiding the protesters as they marched along the streets of Lagos.
National Daily Newspaper learnt that similar protest held in Abuja simultaneously.
In Port Harcourt, Rivers State, the police were gathered to have spread teargas along Aba Road to disperse people who were gathered for the Monday protest in the state.
