Ruben Amorim stays on as Manchester United manager amid speculation
Manchester United have officially confirmed that Ruben Amorim will remain as manager of the club, ending weeks of speculation about a potential change in leadership at Old Trafford.
The announcement was made via the club’s official channels on Monday morning, following a board meeting over the weekend where Amorim’s future was discussed.
“Manchester United can confirm that Ruben Amorim will continue as first-team manager,” the club stated. “The board remains fully supportive of his vision and long-term strategy for the team.”
Amorim, who joined United from Sporting CP last summer, has had a mixed debut season in the Premier League, with the Red Devils finishing outside the top four and missing out on UEFA Champions League qualification. However, sources within the club insist that the 40-year-old Portuguese coach is still seen as the right man to rebuild the squad and implement a cohesive footballing identity.
The decision ends swirling rumors linking other high-profile coaches, including Zinedine Zidane and Roberto De Zerbi, to the United job. Reports had suggested growing pressure on Amorim following disappointing performances in key matches and mounting criticism from some sections of the fanbase.
Speaking after the announcement, Amorim expressed gratitude to the club hierarchy and vowed to repay their faith.

“I am honored to continue leading Manchester United,” he said. “We knew this would be a challenging transition year. The support of the board and fans has been crucial, and I am committed to delivering success next season.”
United are expected to back Amorim in the upcoming summer transfer window, with significant squad changes anticipated. The club is reportedly targeting reinforcements in midfield and defense, as well as offloading several fringe players.
With clarity now established on the managerial front, attention turns to preseason preparations and reshaping a team that has underperformed by United’s high standards.
Amorim, known for his tactical flexibility and youth development focus, will now have a full summer to further instill his philosophy and prove that he is the man to lead United back to the top of English and European football.
