Russia takes in 3rd largest Ukrainian refugees as hostilities continue
Apart from Poland, Russian and its allies have been the most welcoming to refugees fleeing Ukraine where Moscow’s so-called months-long special military operation has destabilized life and economy.
While Poland, staunchly pro-Ukraine, has taken in 2.9 million Ukrainians and Romania, over 800,000, Russia comes third with over 650,000 refugees.
Hungary, basically pro-Russia, has accommodated over 513,000, and another ally of Moscow, Belarus, over 25,000.
Moldova has welcomed over 440,000 while Slovakia takes in over 364,000 refugees.
More than five million Ukrainians have been displaced since the war began on Feb 24.
