S’ Court Justice Ngwuta arraigned, granted bail

For false asset declaration before the Code of Conduct Tribunal, a Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, was on Thursday arraigned in Abuja.

Though he pleaded not guilty to the eight counts charge against him by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, he was granted bail on self recognizance.

It was gathered that his lawyer, Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN), made oral application that the Justice of the apex court be granted bail in self-recognisance.

However, after due consideration, his request was granted.

Fixing July 12 for the commencement of trial, the tribunal headed by Danladi Umar, granted the bail application.

National Daily gathered that Ngwuta is currently undergoing separate trial for money laundering and passport fraud charges preferred against him by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation before a Federal High Court in Abuja.

It was further gathered that Ngwuta was initially charged with 10 counts but have been amended to eight counts before the CCT.
