Secondus shuns Court order, declares ‘PDP is bigger than desperadoes’
- The national Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, on Tuesday dismissed the order of a State High Court in Rivers, restraining him from parading himself as PDP National Chairman. Secondus declared that the PDP is greater than desperate members.
Secondus berating party members behind the ruling of Justice Okogbule Gbasam of the Degema Division of the Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, noted that those behind the action ought to undertake open court processes with the party, noting that the PDP is not afraid of court actions.
The media aide to the PDP national chairman, Ike Abonyi, in a statement on Monday indicated: “If Secondus and the party are taken to court, they will defend themselves.
“PDP and Secondus are not afraid of court; this party is a child of history, owned by Nigerians, bigger than any individual or group, including desperadoes.”
Secondus media aide, Abonyi, alleged that the report of the court order restraining the PDP chairman emanated from the special assistant on media to the Rivers State Governor.
The presiding judge of the State High Court in Degema, Justice Gbasam, had issued the restraining order while delivering Jurgensen on a motion ex parte marked PHC/2183/CS/2021, filed by four persons – Ibeawuchi Alex, Dennis Amadi, Emmanuel Stephen, and Umeziriki Onucha. In the suit, the PDP and Secondus were listed as the first and second respondents.
The PDP national chairman has been under pressure to vacate office by a bloc in the PDP. The party elders, however, intervened and agreed a national convention for the election of new national leaders.
