See how much Manchester City spent to acquire the most expensive football squad
By Boluwatife Ezekiel Olaleye
Manchester City’s dominant Premier League leaders are the most expensive squad ever assembled, costing an eye-watering £777million in total.
Pep Guardiola has an embarrassment of riches in every sense, with the £57m January addition of Aymeric Laporte helping to eclipse PSG who are second on the list of big spenders having spent £713m, according to CIES Football Observatory.
City’s summer spending spree on Kyle Walker (£45m), Ederson (£35m), Bernardo Silva (£43), Danilo (£27m) and Benjamin Mendy (£52m) shot the Sheikh Mansour-owned club to new heights.
PSG are second in terms of squad expenditure and signed Neymar for a record £196m
And the incredible outlay has been backed up by a stellar campaign thus far with City fighting on all fronts and charging away in the title race.
Their fierce rivals Manchester United, who lured Alexis Sanchez to Old Trafford on a bumper pay packet in January, boast the third most expensive squad in world football, costing £661m.
