Senate moves to make zoning legally binding on parties, commences debate on power rotation bill
The Senate of the Nigerian National Assembly has commenced legislation on including zoning in the constitution. The federal lawmakers commenced debate on a bill for an act to provide for the rotation of power between the six geopolitical zones of the country sponsored by Senator Abba Moro, representing Benue South.

Though the bill has been generating controversies in the Upper Chamber, some Senators arguing that it will promote unity and a sense of belonging for all stakeholders, especially, ethnic minorities, and others opposing the bill, arguing that it will go against the Constitution of Nigeria, the bill, however, passed the first reading earlier in the year.
The Senate, however, on Tuesday resumed deliberations on the bill on power rotation.
