Septuagenarian senator says Senate not for kid politicians
Plateau former governor now representing Plateau North has vowed he will not hand over to a younger person in 2019.
Sen. Jonah Jang said “Senate is not for young people.”
Jang is over 70, and he is warming up to replace fellow septuagenarian President Muhammadu Buhari come 2019, though on conditions.
This statement might have dashed the hope of younger people preparing to contest the seat.
Jang’s godsons Istifanus Gyang and Edward Pwajok, are in the House of Representatives, and are believed to be eyeing the Senate seat as their posters are all over Jos.
According to Jang, young people should start from the House of Representatives, as “the Senate is not good for young people, only the House of Representatives is good enough.”
But Jang might be over-rating himself.
Many believe his political weight has diminished since he left the Plateau Government House as governor.
Gyang is with People’s Democratic Party, PDP, while Pwajok is of All Progressives Congress, APC.
