Seven killed, dozens of homes razed in Bauchi farmers–herders clash
At least seven people have been killed and about 50 huts destroyed following a violent clash between farmers and herders in Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
Security sources and local reports indicate that the confrontation broke out in a rural community within the area, escalating into a deadly exchange that left several people dead and displaced families.
The violence also led to the burning of homes and properties, with residents fleeing for safety as tensions spread through the affected community.
Security operatives have since been deployed to the area to restore calm and prevent further escalation, while authorities work to assess the extent of the damage.
The incident adds to the recurring cycle of farmers–herders conflicts in parts of northern Nigeria, often driven by disputes over land use, grazing routes, and resource competition.
Police authorities are expected to launch a full investigation into the cause of the clash and identify those responsible for the violence.
Community leaders have called for restraint and urged both sides to embrace dialogue to prevent further bloodshed in the area.
Further updates are expected as security agencies continue their operations in the affected communities.
