Siasia backs Super Eagles to revive World Cup qualification hopes
Former Nigeria international and ex-Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia, has expressed confidence that Nigeria can still qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite their underwhelming run in the African qualifiers so far.
The three-time African champions have endured a disappointing campaign, securing only one victory in six matches. The poor form has left them in fourth place in Group C, trailing group leaders South Africa by six points.
With four crucial fixtures remaining, Siasia believes the situation is not beyond redemption, provided the players and technical crew rise to the occasion.

“Everything is still possible, but it’s how to get it done,” Siasia said.
“Both the players and the coach have to now bring their ‘A’ game to these matches, and it should be one game at a time.”
The Super Eagles are set to resume their qualifying campaign next week when they welcome Rwanda’s Amavubi to the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
Days later, they will travel to Bloemfontein for a decisive clash against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana on Tuesday, September 9.
Nigeria, who last missed out on a FIFA World Cup in 2006, face mounting pressure to revive their campaign as fans remain hopeful of seeing the team secure a place in the expanded 48-team tournament scheduled to be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico in 2026.
