Signs a child might have diabetes parents should never ignore
People used to believe that diabetes was a condition that only affected adults; but, in more recent times, it has come to light that this potentially fatal disease is also prevalent in youngsters. Type 2 diabetes is a life-threatening illness that causes excessive blood sugar levels because the body is unable to use glucose.
The signs of type 2 diabetes are typically difficult to identify in youngsters due to the sluggish progression of the condition. Symptoms may not be seen in some children. The following are some warning indicators of type 2 diabetes, as outlined by Healthline.
1. Your child gets tired easily
Your child may experience fatigue and sluggishness as a result of fluctuations in blood sugar levels. As soon as you notice that your child is sleeping more and more frequently, you should take him or her to the ER.
2. The child regularly urinates.
Urine aids in the removal of toxins from the body, however when blood sugar levels are too high, glucose and water are excreted in the urine. Having your youngster use the restroom more frequently is a result of this.
The amount of water that your child consumes is excessive.
Water is a must for youngsters who are growing. They should stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids while they’re having fun and working up a sweat. However, if you see that your child is drinking a lot of water, it could be a sign of diabetes.
4. He or she overeats on a regular basis.
There is not enough insulin in the blood of children with diabetes to keep them going throughout the day. Because their body is unable to utilize food as a source of energy, they must constantly consume food in order to stay alive.
5. The child’s wounds and sores heal very slowly
Sores and infections that don’t heal are a sign of type 2 diabetes. Sores that were supposed to go away after your period are still bothering you.
