South Korea holds emergency meeting after North Korea launches ballistic missiles
South Korea’s National Security Council held an urgent meeting after North Korea launched several short-range ballistic missiles towards the Sea of Japan, marking the second missile test by Pyongyang in 2025.
South Korea’s National Security Council convened on Monday to discuss North Korea’s recent launch of medium-range ballistic missiles, Yonhap News Agency reported, citing the presidential office.
According to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, North Korea launched several short-range ballistic missiles from Chagang province towards the Sea of Japan (East Sea).
The missiles traveled approximately 250 kilometers (155 miles) before falling into the sea.
In response, the South Korean military has heightened surveillance and monitoring of North Korean activities, maintaining full combat readiness in anticipation of potential further missile launches.
