Being a woman and seeing other women miserable, Dr Suzanne Soliman, a big name in the pharmacy world, wants to stand with them.
She says “Women in a pharmacy still standing while pregnant for 9 months in a small pharmacy area with swollen feet and legs.” Seeing this makes her feel unhappy and downhearted.
Playing different roles as woman pharmacist, mother, wife, trailblazer and thought leader focused on public health, women and leadership, Dr Suzanne Soliman earned her PharmD from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Pharmacy (UIC-COP).
She completed a residency in primary care with an emphasis on education at Midwestern University Chicago College of Pharmacy and a teaching fellowship at UIC College of Medicine. She is a board-certified medical affairs specialist (BCMAS).
Suzanne has over 100 publications and presents nationally on pharmacy, parenting and women issues.
She is a Rufus A. Lyman award recipient which is granted for the best manuscript published in the American Journal of Pharmacy Education and in 2019, she was a recipient of the Next Generation Pharmacist Civic Leader Award.
Suzy serves as a medical expert and journal reviewer for Annals of Pharmacotherapy and Currents in Pharmacy Teaching and Learning.
She has been featured in the following news outlets: The New York Times, ABC7NY, Daily Voice, “New York Magazine”, “Crain’s Chicago Business”, “Time Out Chicago” and more.
Her areas of interest are parenting, women’s health, assessment and professional development.
Other than that, talking about her personal life, Suzy loves spending time with her husband and children, cooking, baking and eating.
She is an avid cycler and loves cycling year-round. For years, she struggled between work/life balance ultimately finding that balance is something she works on each day.
There was a very difficult period of time for her to cope up but keeping in mind that her further education would help her grow, she stayed consistent in even those hard times.
She considers her inspiration to be her family, in particular her parents. She also wants to follow along the journeys of the people and hear their wins and losses.
She tries to live by one of her favourite quotes by Rumi: “Live life as if everything is rigged in your favour”.
