A £45million Tottenham bid for Paulo Dybala has been rejected as Juventus want £80m for the Argentina striker.

That’s according to La Stampa, who say Spurs have made the first move for a 25-year-old also linked with Manchester United, PSG and Inter Milan.

Interest in Dybala is likely to hot up in the next week as he returns from his extended rest following Copa America.

Tottenham are keen because boss Mauricio Pochettino wants to add proven class in key positions after losing to Liverpool in the Champions League final last season and finishing fourth in the Premier League.

So far France midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has been Spurs’ only major summer recruit.

In other news, Newcastle and Aston Villa are going head-to-head to try and sign Harry Wilson from Liverpool.

The two Premier League clubs are said to be open to either a loan or a permanent deal, with talks at an early stage.

The Reds however, will not loan out the striker again, seeing him as a possible first-team player following his impressive pre-season, and would be reluctant sellers should Wilson feel an opportunity elsewhere was too good to turn down.

Liverpool are understood to value the 22-year-old Wales international at more than £20m. One source has suggested a fee of £15m rising to around £20m with add-ons would be acceptable.

Liverpool said they would take a decision on Wilson on their return from the USA tour, which was on Friday.
