U20 ex-skipper’s surgery successful

FORMER captain of Nigeria U20 women’s national team, Gloria Ofoegbu, is hoping for a speedy return to action for her club and country after successfully coming through surgery weekend at Reddington Hospital, Lagos, after a knee injury that kept her out of action for almost one year.
The Super Falcons and Rivers Angels of Port-Harcourt left wing back disclosed to National dailysports that a good Samaritan helped her to foot the bill for her surgery,she has under gone a successful operation on her knee and hope to get back to the pitch and do what she knows how to do best.
The surgery will mark the end of controversial period of neglect Ofogbu faced as officials of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)insisted she did not get the injury during national duty and the soccer body was reluctant to foot the bills of her medical expenses. She told our reporter she raised the funds for her bills.
It was gathered that the players was recovering already but will still be out for almost three months.
“Doctors will give me update on the progress. She is expected to be out for more 10 weeks,” she said.
