Ukraine border tension: US, Russia renew talk Tuesday
The United States and Russia envoys on Tuesday renewed talks on the mounting tensions at Ukraine borders. The allies in the West have been expressing concerns that Russia has continued to build a massive military force on the former Soviet member state’s border.
US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, is holding the conversation on the phone with Russian envoy, Sergei Lavrov. The two countries had, a day earlier, had a confrontational confrontation on the Ukraine crisis at the UN Security Council.
Russia had on Monday sent a letter to the US responding to written communications from the US.
A State Department spokesperson had acknowledged the letter from Russia.
The official had declared: “It would be unproductive to negotiate in public, so we’ll leave it up to Russia if they want to discuss their response.
“We remain fully committed to dialogue to address these issues and will continue to consult closely with our Allies and partners, including Ukraine.”
Meanwhile, Russia had deployed about 4,000 forces to the border with Ukraine. President Joe Biden on Tuesday declared that the U.S. is “ready for whatever happens.” The U.S. President, however, expressed belief that resolution through diplomacy is still possible, reiterating that otherwise, the U is prepared.
