UNILAG students protest hike in hostel fees, reject eviction order
Students attending the College of Medicine at the University of Lagos often referred to as UNILAG have recently gathered on campus to express their discontent regarding a significant increase in hostel accommodation fees.
The management of the school has put forward a proposal for the new fees which amounts to N80,000 for two semesters and a total of N100,000 for the entire academic year. This represents a notable increase from the previous fee of N65,000 that was accepted and agreed upon in the last academic session.

In a video that was shared on Wednesday, October 23, the students could be seen actively protesting and questioning the rationale behind this sudden jump in fees. Their frustration was clearly visible, and they voiced their concerns about the financial burden this increase would impose on them.
One student, stated that they wanted to gain a clearer understanding of why there was a need for such an increase in their hostel fees, emphasizing their need for transparency and dialogue in this matter.
