Visa agent faces fraud charges for allegedly defrauding Visa seeker of N9 Million
Oluwasegun Abioye, a visa agent, has been charged with defrauding a visa seeker of over N9 million, after promising to secure a Canada visa for the complainant but failing to do so.
A 43-year-old visa agent, Oluwasegun Abioye, appeared before the Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Thursday, facing charges of defrauding a visa seeker of N9 million.
Abioye, a resident of Agege, Lagos, is accused of obtaining the sum of N9,026,000 from the complainant, Kehinde Jegede, on the pretext of securing a Canada visa for her.
The alleged incident took place on March 12, 2024, at Scheme 1 Estate, Oko-Oba, Agege.
Prosecutor Insp. John Iberedem told the court that Abioye, knowing his claims were false, allegedly used the funds for personal purposes and failed to provide Jegede with the promised visa.

Abioye is facing charges under Sections 287 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, with Section 314 carrying a penalty of up to 15 years in prison for obtaining money under false pretenses.
Magistrate Mrs. E.Kubeinje granted the defendant bail in the amount of N400,000, with two responsible sureties in like sum. The case was adjourned until January 21 for further mention.
