Yahaya Bello takes charge of crowd control as court session disrupted
Yahaya Bello, former Governor of Kogi State, took control of a disruptive crowd in the courtroom during his arraignment at the FCT High Court, ensuring order was restored after Justice Maryann Anenih walked out.
Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, was set to be arraigned at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court on Wednesday when an unexpected disruption occurred in the courtroom.
Justice Maryann Anenih, who had entered to hear the plea of the former governor and his co-defendants, abruptly rose from her seat and announced she would not return until order was restored in the court.
Shortly after Justice Anenih left the courtroom, Bello, who had been seated at the front, stood up and moved to the area where a crowd of his followers and sympathizers had gathered.
He immediately directed them to vacate their seats and exit the courtroom, which helped to calm the tense situation.
His instructions were followed without resistance as his supporters left the room one by one.

To ensure further order, Bello took a position at the entrance of the courtroom, overseeing that no one defied the court’s directive.
His intervention helped restore calm and allowed proceedings to move forward.
Meanwhile, Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, is leading the legal team representing the Federal Government in the case, while Joseph Dauda, SAN, heads the legal team defending the former governor.
The case involves 16 counts of charges against Bello and his co-defendants.
