100 policemen escape death in Rivers

Tragedy was on Friday averted as over 100 policemen deployed for tomorrow’s National Assembly re-run election in Rivers State escaped death as the truck conveying them collided with another truck carrying cow.
The detachment of policemen who were journeying from Akure in Ondo state were being conveyed by police truck with Registration number: NPF 5205 C.

It was learnt that the accident took place at Akala-Olu community of Port Harcourt with several police officers sustaining various degree of injuries while about five cows dead.
It would be recalled that on Thursday, an Army Major and three other soldiers were shot dead by gunmen believed to have been pirates at Abonneman, Akuku-Toru local government of Rivers state.
