2023 Presidency: ‘I didn’t come to Lagos for consultations, I came to celebrate’ – VP Yemi Osinbajo
With the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary barely days away, aspirants within the ruling party are still making what can be described as last-ditch efforts to woo delegates to their corner.
According to reports, Professor Yemi Osinbajo was in Lagos on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, to drum up support for his presidential ambition ahead of the primaries.
Addressing the crowd of supporters that came out to receive him, the Prof revealed that he didn’t come to Lagos to consult with anyone, but rather, he came to celebrate with his supporters and well-wishers.
Going further, the VP said he was confident that not only will he defeat other aspirants in the race for the APC’s presidential ticket on the day of the primary, but he will eventually emerge as Nigeria’s next Commander in Chief at the polls next year.
After traversing the length and breadth of the country within the past few months, It is quite interesting to see VP Osinbajo bring his campaign train to the stronghold of his estranged political godfather and benefactor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
It is common knowledge that both Osinbajo and Tinubu are contesting for the sole presidential ticket of the APC.
It also worth noting that during his visit to Jagaban’s domain on Wednesday, there was no mention of Osinbajo paying a visit to the office of the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who is known to be Asiwaju’s political godson. Perhaps that was why the Prof said he did not come for consultations.
