2023: Uzodinma dismisses Igbo presidency, despite southern govs insisting on zoning to south
As far as it is concerned, the APC in not interested in an Igbo presidency come the next general election in 2023.
Imo Gov Hope Uzodinma said this as he dismissed Ohaneze and other Igbo group rooting for one of them to become president.
“We are not looking for an Igbo President. We are looking for a President of Nigeria,” he told he Channels TV September 10.
“We as a party APC believe what we are practicing here is partisan democracy and every politician must be loyal to his party.
“At the end of the day it is the decision of the party that you belong to that will matter.”
The ruling APC has been inundated with party members’ opinons on zoning, many insisting the south should be allowed after President Muhammadu Buhari.
In the south, the west apparently is warming up, and many can see its potential candidates, including V.P Yemi Osinbajo, APPC National Leader Bola Tinubu, and Ekiti Gov. Kayode Fayemi, among others.
None of these has declared any intention, though.
The east however has yet to get its act together, especially as the region is predominantly PDP’s.
