3 Reasons why you don’t add weight even though you eat a lot
Weight gain and weight loss are determined by many factors, and one of those is food. People tend to add weight when they consume high calorie foods without much exercise. However, the case is not the same for everybody. There are people who eat a lot, do not do any exercise, and yet they don’t add weight. Sometimes you get to wonder what causes this. If you’re one of those people, this article is for you, as I will be showing you some reasons why you don’t add weight even after eating foods that cause weight gain.
1. Fast metabolism
The human body burns more calories when we engage in physical activities. Those who have a fast metabolism tend to burn more calories during physical activities or when they’re at rest, this usually leads to hunger and the need to consume more calories in order to maintain their weight. This is why some people tend to eat a lot without adding weight.
2. Physically active
This is another reason why some people tend to eat a lot without gaining weight. Exercise does not only involve going to the gym or jogging. Our daily activities can also serve as an exercise, research shows that physically active people tend to burn more calories, which helps them to maintain a healthy weight.
3. Genetics
If your parents are fat, chances are that you are also going to be. The same also goes for slim people. Genetics plays a significant role in determining our weight. Some people are naturally slim because of their genetic makeup, which prevents them from adding weight, no matter what they eat.
It is also important to note that some medical conditions like hyperthyroidism, inflammatory bowel disease, eating disorders and type 1 diabetes can make a person unable to add weight. You are advised to visit a doctor if you experience abnormal weight changes.
