4 things that could happen to your body when you an eat egg every day
There are so many ways to enjoy this humble food: scrambled, fried, hard-boiled, poached. And Nigerians eat a lot of eggs — about 95 million dozen eggs annually, or approximately 279 eggs per person per year. Egg consumption is on the rise, partly because of eggs’ versatility and partly because of their many health benefits. Today, people see eggs as a sort of superfood — low in calories, high in nutrients — but that wasn’t always the case.
Eating eggs every day can have a lot of positive benefits for your health, but there are a few things you should watch out for — and it’s important to know that not all eggs are created equal.
1. Your hair and skin might be healthier
Eggs are a good source of several B vitamins, including vitamins B2, B5, and B12. All of these nutrients have several functions in the body, including maintaining healthy skin and hair. All B vitamins are water-soluble, meaning they don’t stay in your body for very long and are not easily stored, so regular consumption is a good way to make sure you meet your needs.
2. You’ll feel energized
One solid reason to whip up eggs for breakfast is that they can give you a much-needed shot of lasting energy to power through that long shift at your job, or grueling morning workout.
Because of their nutrient composition, eggs can be a great source of slow-release energy,” says “Healthline.com”. The combination of protein and fats, which are relatively slow-digesting when compared with carbohydrates, in conjunction with the B12 that eggs contain, help to provide a steady supply of energy over several hours after eating them.
3. You may get a boost in brain health if you eat eggs often
Egg, when consumed daily, can improve cognitive health as egg contains all the nutrients required for a great mind. It has vitamin B12, B6, Choline, and Folate. These nutrients regulate the mood and memory of a person. It is also said that an egg contains 26% of a woman’s daily recommended value of choline.
4. Your “good” cholesterol will likely raise if you eat eggs most days
While high levels of LDL or “bad” cholesterol can lead to cardiovascular problems, having a higher level of HDL (aka “good”) cholesterol is, well, a good thing. According to the Mayo Clinic, “HDL picks up excess cholesterol in your blood and takes it back to your liver where it’s broken down and removed from your body.”
Both men and women should aim to raise their good cholesterol to 60 milligrams per deciliter. This can be done in a variety of ways, including exercising regularly, quitting smoking, and eating foods that have been proven to raise HDL cholesterol levels.
Despite eggs’ ol’ reputation of being bad for the body because of their cholesterol content, several studies have proven that eating eggs will raise your good cholesterol while having a nominal effect, if any, on your bad cholesterol levels.
