Buhari engages in fresh COVID-19 simulation, goes into isolation on return from UK
President Muhammadu Buhari may be engaging in seeming coronavirus simulation on return from his tour of the United Kingdom (UK). The Nigerian president, and other government officials who were part of his delegation in the two weeks trip to London (UK), went into isolation on arrival in Nigeria at the weekend. That was done without normal testing or manifestation of symptoms. Invariably, the president may be taking additional two weeks break.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, had on Sunday noted that the self-isolation was in compliance with the guidelines of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on international travel.
Government officials who were part of the President’s delegation to the UK, included the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba; Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Ahmed Rufai Abubakar; and the National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Munguno (retired).
President Buhari left Nigeria for London, United Kingdom, on July 26, where he participated in the Global Education Summit on Financing Global Partnership for Education (GPE) 2021-2025, before setting out to meet his doctors.
President Buhari returned to Nigeria on Friday after spending 19 days in the UK.
