Protesters storm Italian cities against govt’s covid vaccine mandate

Protesters in thousands on Wednesday stormed major cities in Italy challenging the government’s imposition of covid vaccine mandate on citizens. Demonstrators filled the square in Trieste’s city center protesting the covid vaccine passport mandate in Italy.

The protesters, in their thousands, gathered in the Piazza Unita d’Italia in Trieste on Monday evening, demonstrating against the imposition of a ‘green pass’ by the Italian government. The government is enforcing a legal requirement for all workers to be vaccinated or provide a negative Covid-19 test from the last 48 hours.

The protesters and others online berated the Italian authorities of attempting to discredit or underplay the demonstration with the webcam to erase the large crowds at the square in order to beguile people that the demonstration was unpopular or did not travel far.

It was gathered that the city located on Italy’s border with Slovenia has been a hotspot for protesting the imposition of ‘green pass’ by the Italian government. The sit-in agitation had persisted since Friday when the government announced the pass. The police on Monday clashed with protesters at the city’s port. The police deployed water cannons and tear gas to disperse protesters who threatened to shut down the city.

The government commenced the implementation of the ‘green pass’ last Friday, after it was passed into law in September.
