Gov Bello presents N145.9bn Budget for 2022 fiscal year
Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State on Thursday presented a budget proposal of N145 billion to the State House of Assembly for enactment into law.
Governor Bello titled the 2022 budget proposal as “the Budget of Accelerated Results”, saying it was designed to achieve critical macroeconomic goals. Bello promised that his administration will be committed to effective delivery of good governance to the people.
The governor also stated that the budget will focus on results that will be of benefits to the people of the state, adding that the budget has inbuilt mechanisms to enhance implementation.
The performance of the budget is premised on fair and equitable distribution of available resources, the governor said.
The 2022 budget proposal is comprised of N90.1 billion Recurrent Expenditure, representing 61.79% and N55.7 billion Capital Expenditure, representing 38.21%.
Education has the highest allocation, followed by Health, Infrastructure, among others.
Governor Bello highlighted that the 2022 Budget of N145.89 billion, is lower than N160.56 billion, indicating a decrease of N14,664,157,689 or 9.13% compared to the 2021 revised budget.
The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Matthew Kolawole, promised that the House will give the 2022 Appropriation Bill a speedy passage to enable the governor commence in earnest its implementation.
