Security Challenges: 81 DIV GOC task officers to be vigilant

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Isidore Henry Edet, on Monday in Lagos reminded officers and soldiers on the need to be extra cautious and vigilant when carrying out their duties and responsibilities especially in the face of the security challenges across the country.

The GOC made the assertion during the inauguration of a five-day 81 Division Planning Cadre 2016 for officers within the Division’s Area of responsibility (AOR) at 81 Division Officers’ Mess, Marina Victoria Island Lagos.

He noted that the activities of the 2016 training directive reflects the COAS resolve to improve the quality of officers, as well as soldiers they lead.

“The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai places high premium on training hence the positive successes recorded in the North East.

“The cadre is to improve the planning capability of commanders and staff officers within the Division AOR to conveniently compete with their counterparts globally,”

On the topics selected for discussion, General Edet further stated that they were deliberately selected and tailored to focus on Maneuverist Approach to Warfare process, estimate process as well as contemporary operations within Nigeria.

While urging participants to take advantage of the opportunity to scoop from the wealth of experience of the resource persons, he reiterated that the set objectives of the cadre would be achieved at the end of the programme.

Lieutenant Colonel Kingsley Samuel, Deputy Director Army Public Relations, 81 Division added in a statement that Commanders, Commanding Officers and senior officers within 81 Divison AOR attended the occasion.
