2023: 3 Northern Christians Tinubu can consider as running mate if he emerges as APC candidate
Ahead of the 2023 Presidential Election scheduled next year, there are top contestants jostling for the All Progressive Congress (APC) Presidential tickets, one of them is the Former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. His ambition as a presidential candidate has been attracting support both from the Northern and Southern Region of the country.
Tinubu has already begun consultations. The former Lagos State governor has traveled to northern states such as Zamfara, Katsina, Kano, and Niger, where he met with General Ibrahim Babangida, a former Head of State. If Tinubu runs for President of the APC, here is a list of three Northern Christians he can consider as running mates.
1. Yakubu Dogara
Tinubu can consider Dogara as a running mate because he is one of the top politicians from the North. Since 2005, the Bauchi State-born lawmaker has been active in politics. As a fourth-term member of the House of Representatives, Dogara has sufficient political experience. He is also the former Speaker of the House of Representatives.
2. Boss Mustapha
Mustapha, who hails from Adamawa State and is currently the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), is a close ally of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He was the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria’s Deputy National Chairman at one time (ACN). Boss Mustapha is a seasoned politician who has been involved in politics since the early 1980s.
3. Simon Lalong
Lalong is now serving his second term as Governor of Plateau State, in addition to his extensive political experience as a two-time Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly. Tinubu can consider the lawyer-turned-politician as a running mate if he wins the APC Presidential ticket. Also, because the North-Central has been sidelined since 1999, Lalong could be an excellent choice.
Who among them do you think is best to serve as Tinubu’s running mate if he emerges as 2023 APC Candidate?
