Ahead of the forthcoming APC National Convention scheduled for March 26, 2022, It’s no longer a news that a top national chairmanship aspirant, Senator Abdullahi Adamu has the backing of President Muhammadu Buhari. Adamu, a Former Governor of Nasarawa State and third-term lawmaker representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District at the National Assembly is the oldest Aspirant jostling for the position.
However, Some Members of the National Assembly including House of Representatives Members and Senators who are members of the ruling party have said that they might leave the party if Adamu is imposed on the party as the consensus candidate for the national chairmanship position. It will be recalled that some APC Governors have previously kicked against the choice of Adamu.
According to the Lawmakers who insisted that they are not against the endorsement of Adamu, There should be a level playing field for all Aspirants jostling for the National Chairmanship Position. Speaking further, The Lawmakers said Delegates should be allow to decide who should lead the party.
