Presidency 2023: Peter Obi wins Labour Party ticket, gets Utomi’s endorsement
Former vice presidential candidate in 2019 to Atiku, Peter Obi, on Monday, won the presidential ticket of the Labour Party for the 2023 general elections. Obi was endorsed at the party’s national convention by Prof. Pat Utomi, one of the leaders of a new political movement working to form a third force in Nigeria’s politics.
The Labour Party held its presidential primary on Monday in Asaba, Delta State.
The party accredited 185 delegates at the convention, but Obi emerged the sole aspirant to win the presidential ticket of the Labour Party.
Other presidential aspirants who include Prof Pat Utomi, Olubusola Emmanuel-Tella, and Faduri Joseph stepped down for Peter Obi.
Obi will face former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the presidential election.
