Presidency 2023: 13 northern APC govs reject Lawan, insist on zoning to South

Northern Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at a meeting at the Kebbi Government House in Abuja on Tuesday morning rejected the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, a presidential aspirant of the APC. The 13 northern governors at the all-night long meeting of the Northern Governors Forum at Kebbi House, Abuja, insisted on zoning of the 2023 presidency to the South after the second tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

The northern APC governors, after the meeting, proceeded to the venue of the APC national convention in the early hours of Tuesday.

The governors present at the meeting include Governor Umar Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State, Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno, State Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State, Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, Aminu Masari of Katsina State, Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, Abubakar Bello of Niger State, Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, and Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State.

A source present at the meeting revealed to National Daily that the 13 northern APC governors are divided between two southern presidential aspirants – Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo SAN.
