Confusion at Stamford Bridge: EPL star flirts with Chelsea, gets punished

Chelsea have not hidden their admiration and intention to secure the transfer of defense stalwart Wesley Fofana from Leicester City this summer.

However, the Stamford Bridge club have seen their previous two bids and as well as their third and latest offer of £80 million still rejected for the 21-year-old defender by the Foxes on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, National Daily learned that Fofana recently attempted to force through a move to Stamford Bridge by missing a training session in the build-up to Leicester City’s defeat to Southampton at the weekend and was left out of the matchday squad as a result of his action.

Now, the Frenchman has been handed a further punishment with banishment from the senior team as he has been ordered to train with the club’s Under-21s National Daily can confirm.

It was believed that Leicester City are holding out for a fee in excess of £80 million for the 21-year-old, who still has five years remaining on his current contract.

‘An offer has gone in and has been rejected,’ Rodgers said of Chelsea’s latest bid on Tuesday evening.
‘That will be the club’s decision. It’s ultimately over my head, when he goes, what the valuation is, and whether the clubs can find an agreement.

‘From a football perspective, if it happens, the sooner the better, because it might allow us to do some work.
‘The club are aware as time goes on that, it becomes more difficult, but the valuation needs to be met for Top and the other board members to be happy.

‘He’s not training with the first team. He’s training with the Under-21s so he can get his football fitness and keep working.

‘It’s so important at this stage to control any sort of distraction that may be there. I can only pick players who give that full commitment to play for the first team. If not, he trains with the Under-21s.

‘He’s a good kid, Wesley, it’s just been a real challenging situation for him. I’ve had it a number of times in my career where players can cope with it and get on and want to help their team-mates.

‘There are others that can’t deal with the distraction. That distracts them, it’s not quite right, and then they miss a training session.

‘These guys get well paid, the very least you can do is turn up. If you don’t, with all respect you can’t just walk into our group. Day to day, he’s a good kid, but it’s been hard for him to deal with everything while he is in the right frame of mind. It’s been difficult for him to play.

‘He didn’t turn up for training one day. That was last week, hence the reason for the weekend and not being involved.’
