ADC crisis: suspended Kachikwu fights back, says chairman’s tenure expired
The suspended presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dumebi Kachikwu, on Saturday nullified the action of the party’s National Working Committee, declaring that the tenure of the national chairman has elapsed.
Kachikwu, at a press conference in Abuja. asserted that the tenure of the ADC national Chairman, Ralph Nwosu, has expired, therefore, he has no capacity to suspend him from the party.
The presidential candidate declared all decisions taken by Nwosu since August 28 illegal, null and void, citing the party’s constitution.
The ADC Deputy National Chairman (Politics), Bamidele Ajadi, had in a statement after an emergency meeting of its National Working Committee (NWC) on Friday, announced the suspension Kachikwu, accusing him of anti-party activities, defamation, and other acts of gross misconduct. The suspension was effect from September 2.
Ajadi had declared: “Dumebi’s speech in the video, contravened the principles and values upon which ADC is founded and the specific provision of Article 16 of the ADC Constitution.”
