INEC orders parties to  submit names, passports of Polling Agents before Dec 30

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has directed political parties to submit the names and passports of their polling agents to the commission on or before December 30, 2022 for the 2023 general elections.

This was part of the resolutions at the quarterly INEC consultative  meeting with leaders of political parties on Wednesday.

Other resolutions at the meeting of the INEC and leaders of political parties on Wednesday, include the adoption of BVAS and E transmission if results. The INEC Chairman, Prog. Mahmood Yakubu, reiterated that the use of the BVAS and the Electronic transmission of results at elections have come to stay. According to him, all political parties are expected to comply.

On INEC sensitive materials, it was agreed that the safe custody of all INEC sensitive materials shall continue to be with the Central Bank Headquartered in Abuja and other branches of the Apex Bank in the State capitals.

Caution on political violence during campaign rallies. All political parties and, especially, parties in government at both national and state levels are to endeavor to eschew violence and provide a level playing grounds for other Parties.

Cleaning of the voters register still in progress. The INEC is still in the process of weeding the Voters’ of multiple registrants and at the right statutorily provided time, INEC will give a report of the exact number of registered voters for the 2023 elections.
