PDP G5 begins gov, NASS, State Assembly campaigns In Rivers
The five governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the PDP G5, agitating for the resignation of PDP national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, and appointment of a southern national chairman, on Saturday, began for state and national assembly elections in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, leader of the G5, invited his other four allies – governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State for the flag off of the PDP campaign for the 2023 general elections at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.
The campaign was for the governorship, senate and house of representatives of the National Assembly and State Assembly and Governorship seats. The presidential candidate was excluded as the G5 had earlier pulled out of the PDP presidential campaign council.
The PDP Deputy National Chairman – South, Taofeek Arapaja, the state chairman, Desmond Akawor; and former Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, were in attendance.
Arapaja presented the PDP flag to the governorship candidate, Siminialayi Fubara, assuring that the PDP will give 100% support to all candidates from Rivers.
