The Imo Sate Police Command on Saturday disclosed the rescue of 19 Ad-Hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) kidnapped by gunmen in the early hours of Saturday in the state. The INEC Public Relations Officer in Imo State, Chinenye Chijioke-Osuji, narrated that the 19 INEC Ad-Hoc staff were on their way to seven different polling units in Ugbelie ward 06 in Ideato South, Imo State, when they were kidnapped. The PRO said the security operatives on receiving distress calls on the kidnap, swung into rescue operations immediately.
She said that the security operatives rescued the INEC staff but could not retrieve all the election materials, which include BVAS and sensitive materials.
