Tribunal receives 31 petitions against Feb 25 National Assembly elections in Anambra

About 31 petitions have been filed at the Anambra State Petitions Tribunal by candidates of various parties, challenging the result of the February 25 National Assembly elections into the senate and the House of Representatives.

Secretary to the Election Petitions Tribunal in Anambra State, Muazu Bagudu, disclosed in Awka that each winner of ant of the elections had at least two petitions challenging the result, noting that the received 24 petitions against the House of Representatives results and seven were against the senatorial election.

Winner of the seat in Anambra Central Senatorial District, Victor Umeh of the Labour Party (LP) has two petitions challenging his victory. Ume is being challenged Dozie Nwankwo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Mrs. Helen Mbakwe of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Senator Ifeanyi Ubah of the Young Peoples Party (YPP) who won the Anambra South Senatorial District election, is being challenged by three defeated candidates include Dr. Obinna Uzoh of the LP, Chris Azubuogu of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Chris Uba of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Stella Oduah of the PDP and her party, the PDP, filed petitions at the tribunal challenging the victory of Tony Nwoye of the LP in Anambra North Senatorial District.

Pascal Agbordike of APGA, winner of the election in Ihiala federal constituency for the House of Representatives, is being challenged by four defeated candidates. The petitioners include JohnMary Maduakolam of the PDP, Chiemeka Hezekiah of the LP; others include Chukwueloka Egwemezie and Chuddy Momah.

In Orumba North/South federal constituency, the victory of Chinwe Nnabuife of the YPP is being challenged by Sopuluchkwu Ezeonwuka, Ms. Nikky Ugochukwu of the LP, Okwudili Ezenwankwo of the PDP and Eric Eze of APGA.

Uchenna Eleodimmuo, who won the election into the House of Representatives in Nnewi North/Nnewi South/Ekwusigo federal constituency, is being petitioned by Ifeanyi Uzokwe of YPP, Mr. Emeka Anagwu of LP, including Timothy Ibeto.
The winner of the election in Oyi/Ayamelum federal constituency, Maureen Gwacham of APGA, is being challenged by Uchenna Okafor of YPP, Vincent Ofumelu of PDP, and Obiora Chira of LP.

In Aguata federal constituency, Johnbosco Onunkwo of the APC, Andrew Azike of LP, as well as Kenneth Anyaeche are challenging the victory of Dominic Okafor of the APGA

Prof. Lilian Orogbu of the LP, winner of the election in Awka North/South federal constituency, is challenged by Obi Nwankwo of the APGA, and Maxwell Okoye of the APC.

Winner of the election in Idemili North/South Federal Constituency, Harris Okonkwo, is being challenged by Ifeanyi Ibezi of the APC, and IKenna Iyiegbu of APGA.

The victory of Peter Udogalanya of the LP in Anambra East/West federal constituency, is being challenged by Chinedu Obidigwe of APGA.
Emeka Idu of the LP is being challenged Ms. Lynda Ikpeazu of the PDP in Onitsha North South Federal Constituency.
