NNPC resolves PENGASSAN, NUPENG, TotalEnergies industrial dispute, expects 275,000bpd oil production
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has resolved the industrial dispute between the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association, (PENGASSAN) and the Nigeria Union of Petroleum, Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and the Management of TotalEnergies, operator of the NNPC/TotalEnergies JV, paving way for an end to the ongoing strike and expectation of increased daily oil production.
The Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd., Olufemi O. Soneye, in a statement in Abuja, indicated that the unions, at a meeting with NNPCL management, accepted to suspend their industrial action. This, according to Soneye. raised the expectation to restore daily oil production of 275, 000 barrels.
According to the statement, all the stakeholders, in a communique at the end of the negotiation, chaired by Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, Executive Vice President, Upstream, NNPC Ltd., signed by TotalEnergies MD/CEO Matthieu Bouyer, PENGASSAN President, Comrade Festus Osifo, and NUPENG President, Comrade Williams Akporegha, agreed to be committed to resolving all the issues within an agreed framework.
The NNPC Ltd.’s, EVP Upstream Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan and Chief Upstream Investment Officer, NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services, Bala Wunti, witnessed the signing of the communique.
Victor Bandele, Deputy Managing Director, TotalEnergies, also attended the meeting, which held on Sunday.
