Rear Admiral Ikoli shot dead in his house

Rear Admiral Teikumo Daniel Ikoli, the Fleet Commander, Western Naval Command is dead. He was found dead in his room in Apapa this morning.
The Command Information Officer, (CINFO) Lt Commander Chinwe Umar confirmed to National Daily that “it is true that Rear Admiral Ikoli is dead. He was found dead in his room this morning. Police authorities have begun investigation into the cause of his death.”
National Daily gathered that one of the security detail in his house said he heard a gunshot in his room, but it was not, however, clear the source of the gunshot.

Lt Cmdr Chinwe further added, “In the early hours of Wednesday, April 5, gunshots were heard in the vicinity where Rear Admiral Teikumo Daniel Ikoli resides in Apapa. When his room was opened, he was found dead. Police have been invited and investigation is ongoing. When the situation is clearer, an update would be given,” Lt Cmdr Umar reiterated.
Rear Admiral was promoted a two-star general in 2016 after he was redeployed as the Commander, NNS Beecroft, Apapa.
He also served as the only serving military officer during the investigation into the arm deals by some military officers including the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.
