Bashir Ahmad reacts as Egypt discontinuing the use of the Dollar for international transactions
A former presidential aide and a Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr Bashir Ahmad, has reacted after it was reported that Egypt officially stopped the use of United States Dollar as the currency for international transactions across the country.
While reacting to the report, the former Presidential aide noted that the world is gradually and truly changing.
Mr Bashir Ahmad made this disclosure in a post he made on his official X handle on Friday afternoon, while reacting to the report.
He wrote: “Egypt has officially stopped using the US Dollar as the currency of international transactions. The world is truly changing.”
Recall that it was reported earlier today that Egypt has officially ditched the US Dollar in trade. Egypt was one of the five countries to join BRICS at its 2023 summit.
Egypt subsequently expressed its desire to move away from the US dollar in trade. The country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs assured that it will work to urge countries it trades with in national currencies, to lessen the burden of the rising cost of utilizing foreign currencies for settlements.
