Obi congratulates Nigerian-British female politician, Abigail Katung, first African, sworn in as 130th Lord Mayor of Leeds
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has congratulated a Nigerian-British female politician, Abigail Marshall Katung, first African, sworn in as Lord Mayor of Leeds, the United Kingdom. She is the 130th Lord Mayor of Leeds.

“I sincerely congratulate a Nigerian-British politician, Mrs Abigail Marshall Katung, who emerged as the first African Lord Mayor of Leeds in the United Kingdom and has been officially sworn in as the 130th lord mayor of Leeds.
“She is reported to be the first person of African descent to hold the position.
“Mrs Abigail Marshall Katung is the wife of Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, representing Kaduna South Senatorial District in the Nigerian National Assembly.
“May God grant her the wisdom and strength to function effectively in her new position, impact more positively on the society and remain a good ambassador of Nigeria, and continue to contribute to the development of our nation as we build a New Nigeria for all. -PO”
