James Rodriguez eyes European return after Copa América Heroics
Colombian playmaker James Rodriguez is set to become a free agent after terminating his contract with Brazilian club São Paulo by mutual agreement.
This news comes after Rodriguez’s impressive performance at the Copa América, where he helped Colombia secure a second-place finish and set a new tournament record with six assists.
His stellar displays earned him the Player of the Tournament award, reigniting his desire to compete in Europe.
Journalist German Garcia Grova confirmed the contract termination, while transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed Rodriguez’s “love” for returning to Europe, where he previously enjoyed success with Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Everton.
Rodriguez himself fueled speculation about a potential Premier League return by responding with “Last dance?” to a social media post from Everton Hub suggesting his return.
