Gunmen abduct 20 medical students in Benue State
Gunmen have abducted 20 medical and dental students in Benue State.
The victims, who are students from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos, were ambushed by the attackers around the Otukpo area on Thursday evening while traveling to the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu.
Catherine Anene, spokesperson for the Benue State Police, confirmed the incident on Friday, stating, “The students were passing through Benue to Enugu when they were abducted. An investigation is ongoing.”

This abduction is part of a worrying trend of kidnapping for ransom across Nigeria. Earlier this month, gunmen attacked the home of Zacchaeus Mich
In July, journalists Abdulgafar Alabelewe and Abdulraheem Aodu were kidnapped in Kaduna while working for The Nation and Blueprint newspapers, respectively.
