The Lagos State Table Tennis Association (LSTTA) has expressed concern over the loss of players to other states due to a lack of support.

Chairman Tunji Lawal highlighted that several talented players from Lagos have been poached by other states ahead of national championships, depleting the state’s pool of quality athletes.

Lawal emphasized the need to develop new Table Tennis players, especially at the youth level.

He called for improved facilities and resources to help players reach their full potential.

“We have lost many senior players to Ogun, Delta, and Rivers States,” he lamented.

“We need to bring in necessary facilities to help them develop their skills.”

Despite the challenges, Lagos has produced notable table tennis talents like Matthew Kuti and Muiz Adegoke.

In an effort to address the shortage of equipment, Lawal has donated two table tennis boards, while the Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC), Lekan Fatodu, has also donated one.

Lawal stressed the need for further support from the Lagos State Government to develop better players.
