Former Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Ruben Neves has defended the quality of Saudi Arabian football, citing Cristiano Ronaldo‘s recent goal-scoring exploits as evidence.
Neves, who won the Saudi Pro League title with Al-Hilal last season, praised Ronaldo’s continued impact at Al-Nassr.
The 27-year-old challenged critics to watch Saudi football firsthand, emphasizing the physical demands of the league despite the hot climate.
Ronaldo, who recently turned 39, has continued to impress on the international stage.
He scored the decisive late goal against Scotland in Portugal’s 2-1 victory in the Nations League.
Neves expressed confidence in Ronaldo‘s ability to reach his target of 1,000 career goals, stating that “with Cristiano, anything is possible.”
