FRSC calls for caution against night travel, cites fatal accident
The FRSC has urged the public to avoid night travel and use safe modes of transportation following a fatal accident in Niger State. The corps marshal attributed the accident to speed violation and called for greater caution among road users.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has urged stakeholders and the motoring public to avoid night travel, citing a recent fatal road accident in Niger State.
The accident, which occurred on Sunday at 4:40 AM, involved a DAF tanker, two DAF trucks, and a Toyota car.
The tanker, carrying petrol, was traveling from Lagos to Kano when the driver lost control due to excessive speed, resulting in a collision and a subsequent fire.
The crash claimed the lives of 37 passengers and injured 18 others.
All four vehicles involved were completely destroyed in the fire.
FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed attributed the accident to speed violation and emphasized the need for caution among road users.

He called on the public to refrain from using unsafe modes of transportation, especially during night hours when FRSC operations may be limited.
The Corps Marshal highlighted the FRSC’s efforts to combat road traffic violations and improve road safety through partnerships with various stakeholders.
He urged the public to support these initiatives and avoid reckless driving behaviors.
